Ibis Genève Petit Lancy

I have mixed feelings. I stayed here for my wife's business trip, a holiday for me. And there are not many things to do in Geneva at night. So, I preferred peacefully reading my book in the lobby in the evening till late hours (since I didn't want to bother my wife with lights). The night staff warned me, "Sir! We're waiting for you to close the lights!" and sent me to my room. I didn't understand why this was necessary but didn't question it, and complied and went to my room. The next night, when I went out to smoke (later than the previous night), I saw an empty room with lights open on the back. And the next night (again later than the night I'd been sent to my room), the whole lobby had open lights with people in it. I don't like this type of unconcerned, preferential treatment. On all of the other occasions, the staff, except the lady with glasses, were very friendly. Don't expect a consistent standard of hospitality, though, your stay will be a utilitarian one.

We had a great stay at Ibis Petit Lancy. The room was spacious and comfortable, plus staff were very friendly. There are many shops and restaurants nearby, which was convenient. A great bonus was they emailed us a free travel card to use within Geneva before we even arrived. We could use this straight away from when we landed. The transport in Geneva is amazing.

Not the first time I have stayed at this hotel. Rooms are functional rather than cosy or cheerful, but are very clean. The room lighting is a little gloomy. The hotel is superbly located with a nearby tram taking you down to the town centre and a bus to the airport right in front of the hotel, plus buses across the road taking you to Carouge. Very good breakfast choices. The only downside is the greatly over-priced snacks and light meals on the bar menu. It's much cheaper to buy drinks and snacks at the local Migros store opposite the tram stop, or eat in local restaurants.

We had a brilliant stay at Ibis and I'd highly recommend it. Before we even arrived at Geneva, Ibis sent us an email to obtain free transport for our entire stay - a wonderful added bonus! Petit Lancy is a bit far out but with the transport system being so good in Geneva, it was easy to get around. The staff were very friendly at the hotel and we had no issues whatsoever. I cannot wait to come back!
